The Kentucky 79 route ( KYÃ, 79 ) is a 104-mile (167 km) north-south highway that runs through five counties in middle-west Kentucky. This can be seen as an extension of the US Route 79, because they have the same number; KY 79 starts in the same town that US 79 ends, and both travel to the northeast-southwest.

Route description

KYÃ,® 79 starts at the intersection with US Route 431 (US $ 431) in downtown Russellville, while the current $ 79 US is at crossroads with US 431 in southern Russellville. KY 79 has an intersection with a new US 68/KY 80 milling, and then into the northern part of Logan County.

It passes through rural areas in northeast Russellville, and then enters Butler County. KY 79 has an intersection with the Kentucky Routes 626 and 1153. It then joins US 231 south of Morgantown. US 231 and KY 79 together went to downtown Morgantown after their exchange with William H. Natcher Parkway, and then met KY 403 in downtown, and then KY 70 on the north side. KY 70 joins KY 79 and US 231 and the three routes are conducted on the Green River to Aberdeen.

KY 79 departs at Aberdeen Grocery, but KY 70 does not break until it reaches a junction a mile north on US 231. After separation from US 231 and KY 70, KY 79 has an intersection with KY 1328 no more than 1/4 a mile from Aberdeen Grocery. Kentucky Route 79 crosses KY 70 for the last time, and becomes known as Caneyville Road.

KY 79 passes through the northern community of the Butler Area at Welch's Creek, where it meets with KY 340. KY 79 enters Grayson County and has access to Wendell H. Ford's Western Kentucky Parkway on the southern side of Caneyville and will also intersect with KY 185, and soon after it was, US 62 in downtown Caneyville.

Highway 79 then goes north to Pine Knob and Short Creek, where he cut KY 54, through the Falls of Rough, and then pass through the Rough River Dam State Park, and cross over to Breckinridge County where he cuts off with KY 105, and then met with KY 259.

KY 79 joins KY 259 from the lake area until both reach the intersection with US Highway 60 at Harned, southeast of Hardinsburg. While KY 259 turned left to join US 60 to the west, KY 79 joins the eastern path from US 60, and remains with US 60 to reach Irvington. Irvington is where KY 79 enters Meade County, and heads to Brandenburg. The Kentucky state highway ends at the Ohio River Bridge on the western side of Brandenburg, south of Indiana State Road 135, which takes the driver to Harrison County, Indiana, and continues to Corydon.
