The GMT 400 and similar GMT 480 are platforms for the 1988-1998 model full-size pickup truck. GMT 420 , GMT 420 , GMT 425 , and GMT 430 are used for full-size SUVs from 1992 to 2000. This is the first GMT appointment for full-size C (RWD) and K (4WD/AWD) and SUV trucks.
Engineering for GMT400 is done by GM Truck & amp; The bus group, working mainly from a rental facility at Pioneer Engineering at 9 miles Road in Warren, MI.

The GMT400 series was replaced by GMT800 vehicles that started in 1999. The GMT400 model is built in Ft. Wayne, IN, Pontiac, MI, Flint, MI, Oshawa, ON Canada, and Janesville, WI & amp; Arlington, TX (SUV).
The GMT400 series is considered a durable, well-designed truck, and looks good. Wisconsin Man 1991 Chevrolet Silverado is documented to reach 1,000,000 miles without major repairs (see article Flint (MI) "Like a Rock", dated 2/17/2008).
