Euro Truck Simulator
The First Euro Truck Simulator was released on August 29, 2008 for Microsoft Windows and OS X and the first truck simulation developed by Europe from the game. Players choose their starting countries from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and England (versions 1.2 and 1.3 only). Initially, players only have access to their home country, unless it contains less than three cities, in which case one or more adjacent countries will be accessible as well. For example, if a player starts a game in Italy or Switzerland, they get a connection to another for free. From there, players choose their first truck with a EUR100,000 budget.
After this, players can start taking jobs from fictitious companies and send cargo to cities in their home country to earn money. This money can then be used for new trucks, upgrading current trucks, expanding business to other countries, and obtaining licenses to drive combustible fuels and chemicals.
The game features a European truck model with instruments that work like flashing indicators, low temperature warning lights and temperatures, wipers, and gauges. The included trucks are fictional variants of Mercedes-Benz Actros (known as Majestic), Renault Magnum (known as Runner), Scania R-series (known as Swift), and Volvo FH16 (known as Valiant).
Euro Truck Simulator 2
The direct sequel to the Euro Truck Simulator , Euro Truck Simulator 2 , was released on October 19, 2012 for Microsoft Windows and in 2013 for Linux. Players choose their starting cities from various locations in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary (in the Going East extension), Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Switzerland and the UK. At first, players can only take what is known as fast work. This fast work involves sending trailers and items from one factory (garage) to another (usually involving delivery between different cities and states). This fast job is offered by logistics and shipping companies in the game and all fuel, service, and highway toll fees and fees paid by the company (shipping company). Therefore, when doing fast work, there is no need to pay toll fees, fuel, and service fees. When players make money or take out bank loans, they can eventually buy their own trucks, which they can buy from truck dealers and truck showrooms (note that truck dealers and showrooms must be 'found' first). With enough money, players can buy a home garage, and start earning more money by sending cargo using their own truck instead of just being a driver for hire (merchandise market). The money earned in the game can be spent on upgrading or purchasing new trucks, hiring NPC drivers to make deliveries (relevant work agents need to be 'discovered' first), buying more garages, and expanding home garages to accommodate more trucks and drivers.
Players gain experience points after each delivery that increases the level of players, and skill points are awarded after each level goes up. Skill points can be used to unlock delivery that require different ADR classes, longer distance shipments, special cargo payloads, fragile cargo loads, urgent shipments, and eco-driving. This development allows players to take better paying jobs.
The game has seventy-seven cities in thirteen different countries, over twenty different cargo types, and more than fifteen European fictitious companies.
Version 2 includes two new trucking companies, Scania and Renault Trucks, with MAN back from the original game. Trucks DAF, Iveco, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo are not officially licensed and changed their name to DAV, Ivedo, Majestic, and Valiant, respectively. The next update includes an official license for DAF, Iveco, and Volvo, and official branding for DAF XF, Volvo FH16, and Iveco Stralis. In January 2013, SCS Software announced a downloadable content package called Going East! , extending the game map to Eastern Europe. DLC sees the introduction of thirteen new cities in Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and new countries, Hungary, and released in September 2013. Unusually, Mercedes-Benz does not want their name to be in Euro Truck Simulator 2 , and still referred to as "Majestic". Mercedes-Benz license added to game with version 1.18.1.
American Truck Simulator American Truck Simulator
American Truck Simulator takes place in North America, and will feature over 100 different cities. The game features an American-style conventional truck, not a European cab on a truck found in two previous games, and was released on 2 February 2016.
