Histori

Founded in 1917 as the Wisconsin Duplex Car Company, the company was created to build heavy duty four-wheel-drive trucks. After the first prototype was built, the company began to expand rapidly. The first four-wheel-drive truck, known today as "Old Betsy", is still owned by Oshkosh Corporation and housed in one of the assembly plants in Oshkosh. Vehicles are still running and are often used in demonstrations and parades. The first mass-produced truck was a 2-ton model, with seven produced in 1918. Model B 3.5 tons and 5-ton models followed. The TR model, introduced in 1933, is a diversification for the company and is the first product of tired rubber ever made.

The 50-50 model, introduced in 1955, was the first truck made specifically for concrete transport. The first ARFF built by Oshkosh was a W Series truck that was shipped to the US Coast Guard in 1953. Oshkosh also manufactures aircraft tractor tractors, and in 1968 the company designed and built U-30, 45 of which were built for US Air Strength to tow planes transport Galaxy Lockheed C-5.

In 1976, the company won a US Army contract to supply 744 M911 heavy equipment carriers, the first in a long line of US Army contracts that now see Oshkosh Defense as the sole and tactical supplier of medium and heavy tactical trucks to the US Army and Marines.

On August 25, 2015, Oshkosh was awarded a US Joint Tactical Tactical Vehicle contract. The initial JLTV award was valued at $ 6.75 billion for up to 16,901 vehicles. The procurement objectives for JLTV are 54,599 vehicles (49,099 Army, 5500 Marines), the estimated cost of the program to be $ 47.6 billion. JLTV will replace some AM Humvee Umum.

New headquarters

On November 7, 2017, the Oshkosh Public Council approved a proposal to sell a section of the century-old Lake Shore Golf Course along the shores of Lake Butte des Morts to Oshkosh Corp for its new headquarters. On November 22, 2017, Oshkosh Corporation announced it would build a new headquarters on the golf course. The city plans to rebuild the rest of the golf course into a new public space.
