The Fall Guy is an American action/adventure television program produced for ABC and originally aired from November 4, 1981, until May 2, 1986. The film stars Lee Majors, Douglas Barr , and Heather Thomas as a Hollywood acrobat who is bathed in light as a hunter.

Plot
Lee Majors plays Colt Seavers, a Hollywood acrobat guy who hovers as a bounty hunter. He uses his physical skills and knowledge of stunt effects (especially those involving his GMC car or large pickup truck) to catch fugitives and criminals. She is accompanied by her cousin and stuntman-in-training Howie Munson (Barr) - who studied in Nashville -, often called Colt "Kid", and sometimes by fellow Jody Banks (Thomas) acrobats.

Development
The guitarist and vocalist of The Diamonds Dave Somerville has been asked by television executives to develop a song for the TV series, based on the life of an anonymous stuntman. Although the original show never progressed, a year later when asked to vacation with friend Glen A. Larson at the Larson holiday home in Hawaii, Somerville's only original song in the guitar box was the same song. Larson has also tried to develop a TV show about stuntmen, and when hearing the song began to develop his idea. Upon their return to Los Angeles, Larson and Somerville presented the idea to ABC Studio, opening their pitch with Somerville playing a song on his guitar, now called The Ballad Of The Unknown Stuntman. In just 5 minutes, ABC Studio agrees that Larson can write a fully funded pilot event.
While writing the pilot, Larson met actor Lee Majors at the airport terminal. Looking for a new project posting Larson to generate Six Million Dollar Man , Majors agreed to take a lead role in the pilot program. The series began to be known from pilots and so on for his frequent acting by Hollywood celebrities, and occasionally in-jokes refers to the star's previous major role in The Six Million Dollar Man series . The pilot featured a cameo appearance by his wife, Farrah Fawcett, and his friend, James Coburn. In the series, due to a delayed Major divorce, Larson plays actress Heather Thomas in the role of Fawcett, having thrown her in another demonstration event at Universal Studios before. Seavers house is built on many studios, but the design is based on a real Somerville home that still exists today in the hills of Hollywood, which has an outdoor bathtub.
During the first season episode, usually, an episode begins with an introduction to the sound of Majors (in its role as Seavers) that explains the precarious life of a Hollywood stuntman, and how he, Seavers, can not make full-time lives of acrobatic work and must work as a hunter gift. This is interrupted by recording real Hollywood stocks from various dangerous film era eras, such as exploding planes plunging directly into the ground, motorcycles jumping through a blazing circle, and biplane crashing into barns. After voice recognition, the crew was seen performing action for a movie or TV series when Seavers was later tasked to find, for example, a man who had passed the warrant. His case turned out to be more complicated than it first appeared. In the process of dealing with criminals, Seavers perform a similar action to that shown at the beginning of the show. Sound-seavers narratives were dropped from the second season onwards.

On June 5, 2007, 20th Century Fox released the first season of The Fall Guy on DVD in Region 1. Like a number of other TV shows from the era released on DVD, the 6-disc set contains extensive music substitutions for reasons copyright (as well as completely edit the order with actor/singer Paul Williams, in the Pilot). Due to bad sales, it is unknown whether the remaining seasons will be released.
Season 1 was released on DVD in Region 2 in Germany and England. Season 2 has also been released in Region 2, in Germany on November 28, 2008 and in the UK on February 16, 2009.

The truck
Seavers Trucks are Rounded-Line 1981 GMC K-2500 Wideside with Sierra Grande equipment level package . A Rounded-Line 1980 GMC K-25 Wideside with high-level equipment package High Sierra is also used. Provided at low cost for production by General Motors, during the initial series of event stunts took their toll on a modified production truck, resulting in several different years, making (Chevy/GMC) and models used during the initial run of the event. As a result, there are several inconsistencies in the episode.
For the second series and beyond, General Motors supplies three customized trucks customized for action sequences, with the machine being moved to an intermediate chassis position just beneath the cabin seats. This means that these trucks are flying in flat projection while in the air, flying farther, and landing flat on the ground, allowing them to be reused for multiple shots and performances.
At the end of the series, the remaining trucks are auctioned or given in a contest. One of them was sold on eBay in 2003.
Movie remake
In July 2010, Los Angeles Times reported that the series based movie was under development. DreamWorks has teamed up with producer Walter F. Parkes in this project. Martin Campbell is in talks to direct the film. DreamWorks, through Disney's Touchstone Pictures distribution label, will release the film in North America, Latin America, Russia, Australia and Asia, while Mister Smith Entertainment will handle sales in the remaining territories. In September 2013, Dwayne Johnson was negotiating to play the title role and McG was in talks to direct.
