Pertama generation (1995-2006; 2013-Present (Sebagai sprinter classic)

Eropa

The first generation Sprinter was launched in Europe in 1995 to replace the famous Mercedes-Benz TN van originating from 1977. It was chosen as the International Van of the Year for 1995.

North America

The first generation (VA Chassis) North American Sprinter was launched in 2001 in the US and was originally branded as Freightliner. Units sold throughout North America were given a badge as Mercedes-Benz until 2003 when they received the Dodge branding. Units in the United States and Canada, but not in Mexico, can be purchased as Dodge or Freightliner from 2003. This product is launched and supported by DaimlerChrysler Vans LLC, a small division based in Huntersville, North Carolina. Key figures from DaimlerChrysler's Commercial Vehicle Division and Freightliner Trucks were selected to spearhead efforts and become the largest part of the division. DaimlerChrysler Vans LLC retained sole responsibility for the Sprinter North American marketplace until its sales, service and parts responsibilities were absorbed by the Chrysler Commercial Vehicle Division in 2004. Almost all of the original staff were retained, although the operating base shifted from North Carolina to Auburn Hills, Michigan. Time DaimlerChrysler Vans LLC remains active in Huntersville as engineering, certification of upfitter and security compliance resources to support Sprinter.

For 2003, DaimlerChrysler introduced the Dodge brand Sprinter version to the North American market. It's identical to the Freightliner Trucks version except for minor style details and badging. Rather than redesigning the old Dodge Ram Van who has been using the same basic body and layout since the 1970s and discontinued in 2003, DaimlerChrysler chose to replace it with Sprinter.

From 2001 to 2006, the Sprinter van cargo version was produced in DÃÆ'¼sseldorf, Germany, partially dismantled and shipped to a facility in Gaffney, South Carolina where they were reassembled. The cargo version, classified as light truck, is subject to 25% chicken tax if imported as a complete unit, which is avoided by demolition and subsequent reassembly. Passenger vans are not subject to the same tax classification and are imported as units assembled through Mercedes-Benz in Jacksonville, Florida.

The cargo version of this model is reassembled in a factory in Ladson, South Carolina that was previously used as an American LaFrance plant. Like its predecessor, the passenger version is imported as a complete unit. The previous reassembly facility in Gaffney, South Carolina continues to be used by Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation.

Japanese

Iran

The 314 model of the first generation is still assembled by Iranian Khodro Diesel. It is used as an ambulance car.

Sprinter Classic

Since 2013 the Sprinter 2000-2006 model has been revived in the Russian market just as the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Classic. Grille 2002-2006 used on Sprinter Classic & amp; also the Sprinter Classic uses a 2000-2006 dashboard design but this time the Sprinter Classic uses the steering wheel from Sprinter 2006-2014. However Sprinter Mk.2 is also sold on the Russian market. The Sprinter Classic was built by Gorky Automobile Plant in Nizhny Novgorod.

Initial release

The second generation Sprinter was introduced in Europe in 2006. It was voted Van of the Year 2007 and again in 2008 by Professional Van and Light Truck Magazine. 2012 Information and Fuel Consumption Numbers.

Also known as NCV3 or New Concept Van 3. NCV3 appeared in Europe and elsewhere in the 2006 model year. North America received its own NCV3 model for 2007.

The US cargo version of the 906 NCV3 comes in two wheelbase options (144 ", 170"), two-roof height (60.6 ", 72.4" high), three long (Short 233.3 ", Standard 274.2, Extended 289.8 "), and two heavyweights (2500, 3500) where 3500 has options for double rear wheels or rear super single. Both the 128in wheelbase and the super single rear tire are available in the US market. US cargo versions are reinstalled from kits at an assembly plant located in Ladson, South Carolina, while passenger models are imported directly from Germany.

The second generation 906 is produced in Argentina only for export markets - except Mercosur market (Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay) - from 2007 to 2010, but in 2011 announced the second generation of new generation production at Centro Industrial J. Manuel Fangio, in Buenos Aires with brand new OM 651 (also locally made) engine and exported throughout America (including Mercosur market). Since 2012, it was produced for Mercosur and 40 other countries.

Production

A class action lawsuit filed in California state court against Mercedes-Benz accused the defendant has sold Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 and 3500 models with water leaking from the roof air conditioning unit to the passenger area. Air-conditioning leakage was also found on the Dodge Sprinter made by Mercedes-Benz from 2003 to 2009. The suit affects California residents with roof air conditioning units and Sprinters equipped with rear air conditioning.

Usage

Sprinter is designed primarily for businesses, not private users, although recreational vehicle conversion (RV) is available. In the United States, the first generation Sprinters (2001-2006) offered solely with Mercedes-Benz 2.7 liter straight five-cylinder turbocharged Diesel.

The company replaced the van conversion with wide bus body - Runner with side-facing bench and high right side door - as campus transport. Limited number of "carts" complete (passenger vans) are being produced in Germany and delivered complete to the United States mostly for private van use and church. The Typical Sprinter Wagon accommodates 8 to 10 passengers and has glass in all possible factory positions. Vans sent to the United States in-spec (speculation for sale by dealer/distributor) are mostly shipped in White Arctic colors, but many colors are available. The Dodge dealer network for Sprinters is limited to a certified location (known as a "Business Link" certified dealer, usually only awarded to "Five Star" certified dealers), and the dealer's knowledge is limited in both sales and service. Special orders typically take one to three months for delivery, and may take longer due to assembly and disassembly in Germany, and export parts to South Carolina for reassembling. The exception is the model of a passenger van assembled in Germany and exported as a complete vehicle.

In North America, most Sprinters are sold as cargo vans to expediters in the United States. Such circumvention is similar to truckers, except they take smaller loads and will wait after dismantling until the dispatcher finds another customer nearby to transport the goods. The emergence of the Sprinter van with a cargo space of 13-1/2 feet (4.1 m) has enabled van vans to take three 48 x 48 in (1.22 x 1.22 m) glide or pallet, where previously they were limited to the capacity of two Sprinter palettes capable of carrying about 3000 pounds (1360 kg) of cargo. The vehicle has been adopted by police in Hong Kong and in Poland, as well and as an ambulance by countries in Western Europe, Scandinavia, US, Australia and New Zealand. CDI 515 has become a standard ambulance for use by the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK.

Another market in which Sprinters gained ground is as the conversion of vans and recreational vehicles. Conversions include RV, limo, family and luxury van, office van, wheelchair accessible van, and golf cart. Convert Sprinter RV can also be called campervans Sprinter. The Sprinter conversion has been produced by several RV manufacturers and coaches. Sprinter's current split version represents the majority of the supermarket home delivery fleets across the UK, but the demand for these vans is beginning to decline. ASDA recently announced that its new fleet will be a special IVECO vehicle, following in the footsteps of Tesco. Mercedes is currently working with Waitrose Home Delivery, which currently uses cold LWB HR Sprinters, on a new generation home delivery prototype prototype, currently used in selected stores, aimed at cutting emissions, costs, and increasing time efficiency.

Sprinters have been used globally as television production vehicles, most commonly as ENG (Electronic News Gathering) and SNG (Satellite News Gathering) vehicles. This is a popular choice for local affiliates for their maneuverability in metropolitan areas and lack of DOT regulations (in versions below 10,000 lbs).

Although not marketed as a family vehicle, the Dodge Sprinter branded a special modification used by ten members of the Gosselin family, the subject of the reality series of TLC Jon & amp; Kate Plus 8 .

In Colombia, the Sprinter is the most popular van for intercity transport. Sprinter's luxuriously appointed purchase by the son of former President Julio Cesar Turbay, Julio Cesar Turbay, Jr. sparking scandal

The Mercedes Sprinter is a vehicle used by Mike and Frank on the reality series The History Channel to Season 6, when it was replaced by Ford Transit.

The van is also used as a mobile command center by the siochana guard which is the national police force of the Irish republic

Passenger Minibus

Although marketed as a freight van, Sprinter has 4 variants designed to transport passengers. This is made by removing the parts of the wall and replacing it with a glass panel.

Sprinter Mobility

This is the smallest Sprinter minibus. There are 4 sub-variants: 23, 33, 35 and 45. Have 8-18 seats & amp; and its length is 6.9-7.4 meters. It has 4 doors: 1 on either side of the driver and the front passenger seat (which, as in the van, is separated from the main passenger compartment), the sliding door in the middle, which enters the rear passenger seating area, and a set of double doors in back into a defective area with lifts that can be extended out of the door when they are open.

It is designed for paratransit.

Sprinter Transfer

This minibus is a longer variant of the Sprinter Mobility where the front passenger seat has been removed and the front passenger seat door now acts as a door for all passengers. In addition, the rear wall has seats along it, but it can be opened as doors and chairs are removed to make modifications to the interior of the vehicle. It comes in 5 sub-variants: 23, 34, 35, 45 and 55. It has 13-22 seats and a length of 5.9-7.7 meters.

It is designed for bus service to the hamlet.

Sprinter Trip

The bus has a high floor, and next to the driver's door, has only 1 automatic passenger door with several steps. It is 7,4-7,7 meters long and has 17-19 seats.

It is marketed as a mini coach.

Sprinter City

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter City minibus variant has been manufactured since 1995 and marketed through EvoBus. Freightliner variants have been produced since 2007. There are three sizes, Sprinter City 35, 65 and 77, which can accommodate 10 to 16 passengers; including standing passengers, this version can accommodate 22 to 40 passengers. 77 variants have low floors throughout and a third pair of wheels on the back. The Sprinter City has two automatic doors: a set of double doors in front, which are used for passengers up or down and have a damaged path; and one door behind the rear wheels for the downed passenger, which opened up several stairs in the upstairs area. There is also a manual door on the offside to the driver's cab. Variant 77 has double rear door.
