The second season > Man v. Food , the American food reality television series hosted by Adam Richman on the Travel Channel, aired on August 5, 2009. The first episode of the series aired in the United States on the Travel Channel on Wednesday at 10:00 Eastern time. Man v. Food is an executive produced by Matt Sharp, in collaboration with the Travel Channel. This season contains 20 episodes and finished airing on December 16, 2009. On February 3, 2010, a special "Live" episode airs.

Man v. Food guided by actor and food fan Adam Richman. In each episode, Richman explores the "great food" of different American cities before facing the challenges of eating already in local restaurants. Not counting the "Live" episodes in Miami (which he won), the final tally of the second season is: 13 wins for "Man" and 7 wins for "Food".

Production

The second season was first reported in March 2009 when Anchorage Daily News said that people from the show had contacted the owner of Pepper Mill, home to "Fat Andy's Pizza Challenge". This challenge, still unfulfilled after two years and 50 attempts, requires two people to eat a two-meat, two-cheese two-meat, two-cheese pizzas in an hour or less. Successful challengers will win $ 500 in cash and display their photos on "Wall of Pain Fatyy". Pizza challenge, equivalent to four large standard pizzas, costs $ 49.99 and takes half an hour to roast. Although Anchorage visited this season, "Challenge of Fat Pizza Andy," was not broadcast.

For filming, shortly after the first season was aired, Richman told an interviewer, "They [Travel Channel] want to start again in May, this leaves me with a lot of time." Season 2 began filming in Sarasota, Florida, on May 2, 2009.

Reception

Joe Killian, a cultural critic for Greensboro News-Record, wrote, "Catch the second season premiere of Man v. Food last night and I have to say, I think I'm hooked." Christopher Lawrence of the Las Vegas Review-Journal described Richman as "impressive" and "fun" saying "think Fred Savage is fatter, even though people who weigh less than last season." On his dominance of the sushi roll sushi challenge in Charleston, South Carolina, Katie Koch of Charleston City Paper said, "This is an achievement that can only be achieved by crazy or highly commendable people." After detailing Richman's ice cream challenge in the San Francisco episode, Joshua Gillin from St. The Petersburg Times noted humorously, "He must be the one who will be dropped by his health insurance." Jonathan Bernstein of the British newspaper The Guardian described "mixed feelings" about the series that says he likes "conceptual" and "male" but that challenge makes him "a little nervous". Emley Kerry of Tiger Weekly wonders, "Why is not he fat or dead?"
