src: www.web2carz.com

The first generation Ford F-Series is a series of pickup trucks and commercial vehicles manufactured by Ford. Introduced in late 1947, the F-Series was Ford's first post-war truck design. The first generation F-Series will remain in production until 1952. F-Series trucks are assembled in sixteen different Ford factories. The serial number shows the model of truck, engine, year, assembly plant, and unit number. The most common model is the F-1 with a 6 ½ foot bed followed by the F-2 and F-3 Express models with an 8 foot (2.4 m) bed.

Design

The first F-Series truck (known as the Ford Bonus-Built) was introduced in late 1947 (went on sale January 16, 1948) in lieu of a pre-war Ford truck. It has a flat windshield, one piece, and integrated headlights. That's a bigger cab. Choices include "See-Clear" glass washer (operated by foot plunger), windshield wiper & amp; sun visor, and passenger side rear lights. The F-1 truck is also available with additional chrome trim and two horns as an option. All F-series are available with optional "Marmon-Herrington All Wheel Drive" until 1959.

The F-Series truck design changed from 1950 to 1954. From 1948 to 1950, roasting was a series of horizontal bars and headlights fitted to the fenders. For 1951 and 1952, the headlamps were connected by wide aerodynamic cross pieces with the same three aerodynamic supports. The rear window is wider on these trucks and the redesigned dashboard. The new cabin is called "Five Star Cab".

Along with pickup trucks (F-1 to F3), the F-Series is sold as panel trucks (based on pickups), COE/cabin-over (F-5 and F-6, Branded C-Series) chassis and school bus chassis F-5 and F-6, branded B-Series). Above the F-5, the F-Series is a conventional heavy-duty and heavy-duty truck that shares the lower half of the smaller F-Series.

  • 1950 : The standard three-speed shift is moved from the floor to the middle steering column.
  • 1951 : The 1951 trucks were fixed with a bar-type grille and headlights at each end of the grille bar. The grille was painted argent (silver) to complete the chrome light bezel. During the model year, the grille is painted ivory and the ring lights ring (silver). The engine hood gets a new side spear and a three-hole ornament on the front. The redesigned front bumper. The V-8 symbol is used on top lattice support on the appropriate truck. The pickup bed and rear tub are redesigned. Beds use wooden floors instead of all metal flooring beforehand. The back window is larger. Door panels are also added.
  • 1952 : The VIN plate is attached to the back face of the driver's door. The information in the rating plate is the VIN number. The VIN number identifies the series, model year, assembly plant, and production order.
