The DAT Solution , originally known as Dial-a-Truck , is a US-based "load board" service and transport information provider serving North America. The goods exchange service is used to match the material ("load") that needs to be sent with over-the-road operators that can be hired to move the load. DAT was founded in 1978 and is part of Roper Technologies.

History

In 1958, Monroe 'Moe' Jubitz, opened Fleet Leasing, Inc., a full service truck rental and maintenance company in Portland, Oregon. Moe expanded to provide fuel, food, and accommodation for truckers on the road, as long as Jubitz Truck Stop. The trucking industry was deregulated in the 1970s, encouraging independent truckers and small companies to look for additional burdens rather than back empty. Mr. Jubitz watched the driver roam at his truck stop after a meal and a regular shower, hoping to find a load. So he decided to start signing up for brokers and shippers who needed delivery from Portland. Prior to the service, truckers searched for many left handwritten notes on bulletin boards at Jubitz Truck Stop in Portland, Oregon, USA for shippers and delivery intermediaries who were looking for truckers to move their goods. Jubitz began posting loads on the monitor at the truck stop and charged the driver for the phone number of the company wishing to move the goods.

in 1978, Dial-A-Truck was founded by Moe's son, Albin Jubitz, as a subsidiary of Jubitz Corporation. In the 1980s, DAT monitors were in hundreds of truck stops across the country, with thousands of truckers and shippers subscribing to boarding services. Dial-A-Truck was re-labeled as a DAT Service in 1989. In 2001, the DAT network was used to mobilize trucks to support relief efforts after the September 11 attacks.
