Chevrolet ( shev-r? - LAY ), colloquial referred to as Chevy and officially Chevrolet Division of General Motors Company , is the American car division of American manufacturer General Motors (GM). Louis Chevrolet and former General Motors founder William C. Durant started the company on November 3, 1911 as Chevrolet Car Company. Durant used the Chevrolet Motor Car Company to acquire a controlling stake in General Motors with an upside merger that occurred on May 2, 1918 and propelled himself back to the GM presidency. After the second expulsion of Durant in 1919, Alfred Sloan, with the proverbial "car for every wallet and goal", would choose the Chevrolet brand to become a volume leader in the General Motors family, selling mainstream vehicles to compete with Model T Henry Ford in 1919 and overtaking Ford as the best-selling car in the United States in 1929.
Chevrolet branded vehicles are sold in most automotive markets worldwide, with the exception of Oceania, where GM is represented by its subsidiary in Australia, Holden; Chevrolet announced its return to the region starting in 2018 after a 50-year hiatus. In 2005, Chevrolet was relaunched in Europe, primarily selling vehicles built by GM Daewoo from South Korea with the tagline "Daewoo has grown big enough to become Chevrolet", a move that is rooted in General Motors' effort to build global brands around Chevrolet. With Chevrolet reintroducing into Europe, GM intends to make Chevrolet a mainstream brand value, while holders of GM's traditional European standards, Opel of Germany and Vauxhall from Great Britain will be moved to the upper class. However, GM reversed this move in late 2013, announcing that the brand will be withdrawn from Europe, with the exception of the Camaro and Corvette in 2016. Chevrolet vehicles will continue to be marketed in CIS countries, including Russia. After General Motors acquired GM Daewoo in 2011 to create GM Korea, the latest use of Daewoo automotive brands was discontinued in South Korea originally and replaced by Chevrolet.
In North America, Chevrolet manufactures and sells a wide range of vehicles, from subcompact cars to medium-sized commercial trucks. Due to the excellence and recognition of Chevrolet's name as one of the global marques of General Motors, Chevrolet , Chevy or Chev is used at a time as a synonym for General Motors or its products , one such example is the GM LS1 engine, commonly known by its name or variant of its ancestor, a small Chevrolet block engine.

History
On November 3, 1911, Swiss racing driver and automotive engineer Louis Chevrolet founded Chevrolet Motor Company in Detroit with William C. Durant and investment partner William Little (small car maker), former Buick owner James H. Whiting, Dr. Edwin R. Campbell (Durant's son-in-law) and in 1912 General McLaughlin's General Motors Hospital in Canada.
Durant was discharged from General Motors management in 1910, a company he founded in 1908. In 1904 he had taken over the Flint Wagon Works and Buick Motor Company of Flint, Michigan. He also includes Masons and small companies. As head of Buick, Durant has hired Louis Chevrolet to drive Buicks in a promotional race. Durant plans to use Chevrolet's reputation as a racer as the foundation for its new car company. The first factory location is in Flint, Michigan on the corner of Wilcox and Kearsley Street, now known as "Chevy Commons" in the span coordinates 43.0086339Ã, à ° N 83.7099114Ã, à ° W / 43.0086339; -83.7099114 ( Chevy Commons ) , along the Flint River, across the street from Kettering University.
The actual design work for the first Chevy, the expensive C Classic Six Series, made by Etienne Planche, follows Louis's instructions. The first C prototype was ready months before Chevrolet was actually entered. But the first actual production is not up to the 1913 model. So basically there is no production model of 1911 or 1912, only 1 pre-production model was made and tuned well in all the early parts of 1912. Later in the fall of that year, a new model of 1913 was introduced in New York auto show..
Chevrolet first used the logo "bowtie emblem" in 1914 on the H series models (Royal Mail and Baby Grand) and The L Series Model (Light Six). It may have been designed from the wallpaper Durant ever seen in a French hotel room. More recent research by historian Ken Kaufmann presents the case that the logo is based on the coal company's "Coal" logos. An example of this logo as it appears in an advertisement for Coalettes appeared in the Atlanta Constitution on 12 November 1911. Others claimed that the design was a Swiss-style cross, in recognition of the homeland of Chevrolet's parents. Over time, Chevrolet will use several different iterations of the bowtie logo at the same time, often using blue for passenger cars, gold for trucks, and outline (often red) for cars that have performance packs. Chevrolet finally unified all models of vehicles with a bowtie of gold in 2004, for both brand cohesion as well as to distinguish itself from Ford (with a blue oval logo) and Dodge (who often uses red for imaging), two of its main domestic rivals.
Louis Chevrolet had a distinction with Durant over its design and in 1914 sold its Durant parts in the company. In 1916, Chevrolet was quite profitable with successful sales of the cheaper 490 Series to allow Durant to buy back controlling shares at General Motors. After the deal was completed in 1917, Durant became president of General Motors, and Chevrolet merged into GM as a separate division. In 1919, the Chevrolet plant was located in Flint, Michigan; branch assembly locations are located in Tarrytown, N.Y., Norwood, Ohio, St. Louis, Missouri, Oakland, California, Ft. Worth, Texas, and Oshawa, Ontario General Motors of Canada Limited. McLaughlin was given the shares of GM Corporation for ownership of their Company article September 23, 1933, Post Financial page 9. In the 1918 model, Chevrolet introduced the D Series, a V8 supported model in a four-passenger and five-passenger roadster model.. Sales were bad and fell in 1919.
Starting in 1919, GMC commercial grade trucks were replaced by the Chevrolet brand, and used the same chassis with Chevrolet passenger cars and built light trucks. The commercial grade GMC truck was also branded as Chevrolet's commercial grade truck, sharing an almost identical appearance to GMC products.
Chevrolet continued into the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s competing with Ford, and after Chrysler Corporation formed Plymouth in 1928, Plymouth, Ford, and Chevrolet were known as "Low-priced three". In 1929 they introduced the famous "Stovebolt" overhead valve with a six-cylinder engine, giving Chevrolet a marketing advantage over Ford, which still offers one flathead four ("A Six for Four"). In 1933 Chevrolet launched Six Standards, which are advertised in the United States as the cheapest six-cylinder car sold.
Chevrolet had a major influence on the American car market during the 1950s and 1960s. In 1953 it produced a Corvette, a two-seat sports car with a fiberglass body. In 1957 Chevy introduced its first fuel injection engine, the Rochester Ramjet option on the Corvette and passenger cars, for $ 484. In 1960 he introduced the Corvair, with an air-cooled engine mounted on the back. In 1963 one out of every ten cars sold in the United States was Chevrolet.
During the 1960s and early 1970s, the Chevrolet standard, especially the luxury Impala series, became one of America's best selling car lines in history.
The small-block Chevrolet V8 design has remained in sustainable production since its debut in 1955, longer than any other mass production machine in the world, although the current version shares little if any parts are exchanged with the original. The descendants of the small-block OHV V8 design platform in production today have been heavily modified with advances such as aluminum block and head, electronic engine management, and sequential port fuel injection. Depending on the type of vehicle, the Chevrolet V8s are built in displacement from 4.3 to 9.4 liters with output ranging from 111 horsepower (83 kW) to 994 horsepower (741 kW) as installed in the factory. Engine design has also been used for many years in GM products manufactured and sold under the plates of the names Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, Hummer, Opel (Germany), and Holden (Australia).
In 2005, General Motors relaunched its Chevrolet brand in Europe, using a car version of Daewoo that was reproduced by GM Korea.
The Chevrolet Division has largely recovered from the 2007-2010 economic downturn through the launch of new vehicles and improved existing lanes. GM began developing more fuel-efficient cars and trucks to compete with foreign automakers. At the end of 2010 General Motors began producing plug-in hybrid Chevrolet Volt, sold as Opel/Vauxhall Ampera in Europe, which received many awards including North American Car of the Year, European Car of the Year, and World Green Car this year. The Volt/Ampera family is the world's best plug-in electric car in 2012 with 31,400 units sold. Opel/Vauxhall Ampera is the best-selling plug-in electric car in Europe in 2012 with 5,268 units, representing a 21.5% market share of the plug-in passenger electric passenger car segment in the region. The combined Volt/Ampera global sales passes 100,000 units milestone in October 2015. In June 2016, the Volt family of vehicles was ranked as the world's best-selling hybrid plug-in, and is also the third best-selling electric car plug-in ever, after Nissan Leaf and Tesla Model S. Volt sales in the American market past the 100,000 milestone in July 2016.
In October 2016, GM started producing the Chevrolet Bolt EV, the first affordable multi-purpose electric car market with a range of over 200 mi (320 km). Chevrolet Bolt wins several awards including the 2013 race car award, AutoGuide.com 2014 Auto Cars Readers of the Year, Green Car Reports Best Cars To Buy 2017, Green Car Journal of 2017 Green Car of the Year, and is listed in Time magazine 25 Best Inventions of 2016.

In 2010 Chevrolet has been operating in over 140 countries, and global sales in 2011 set a record with 4.76 million vehicles sold worldwide.
North America
Canada
Mexico
Mexico has a mixture of Chevrolet models from different brands and GM platforms that are branded Chevrolet. Models come from Chevrolet USA, GM Korea, Mexico and other origins. Examples of Opel-sourced vehicles are Vectra, Astra, Corsa, Meriva, Zafira and Captiva (Opel Antara). Mexico also has several cars of its own, such as the Chevy C2, which is an older generation of Corsa B. Vehicles reworked on the basis of the US platform is Landslide, Suburban, Equinox, Tahoe, Cheyenne (similar to the Silverado), Aveo, HHR, Traverse, Malibu , Camaro and Corvette. The Chevrolet Optra, assembled in South Korea by GM Korea, is also sold in Mexico. Epica Europe is sold as a business vehicle only. GM also manufactures Chevrolet vehicles such as Suburban and Landslide in Mexico for export to other markets, especially the US and Canada.
Asia
China
In 2009 China became Chevrolet's third largest market, with sales of 332,774 vehicles, just behind the United States and Brazil (1,344,629 and 595,500 vehicles). In 2010, Chevy sold more than half a million, with Cruze being the best seller there.
India
Launched by GM India operations, Chevrolet is one of the latest car brands. Until 2003, GM India - originally a joint venture with Hindustan Motors, sells Opel Corsa, Opel Astra, and Opel Vectra. Chevrolet officially started its business in India on June 6, 2003. Corsa and Astra were built at the factory in Halol, Gujarat.
Chevrolet Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet Tavera, Chevrolet Captiva, Chevrolet SRV, Chevrolet Beat, Chevrolet Sail and Chevrolet Aveo U-VA. The Chevrolet Forester, Subaru rebadged, was imported directly from Fuji Heavy Industries in Japan until 2005. Cruze and Tavera were built at the Halol plant. Chevrolet is also the sole Engine supplier for the Formula Rolon single sedan series in India. In May 2017, GM announced that it would stop production and sales of Chevrolet cars in India, but would continue to run the service center.
Japanese
From 1995 to 2000 Toyota in agreement with GM sold its third-generation Chevrolet Cavalier model as a Toyota Cavalier in Japan instead of Geo/Chevrolet Prism in an effort to avoid additional restrictions on their exports to the US. In the mid-2000s, Suzuki imported and marketed Chevrolet TrailBlazer and Chevrolet Optra wagon in Japan. Suzuki, GM's partner, also collects and markets microvan MW Chevrolet. MW was originally the rejuvenated Suzuki Wagon R and then recharged by Suzuki Solio. Suzuki also marketed the Chevrolet Cruze subcompact in the past.
Previous attempts during the 1970s and 1980s saw partnerships with Isuzu and Suzuki, with Chevrolet Chevette in the 1970s from Isuzu, and Suzuki Cultus of Suzuki during the 1980s, labeled as Geo Metro.
General Motors Japan Limited currently distributes and markets a limited number of Sonic, Captiva, Camaro and Corvette through an agreement with dealer Yanase Co., Ltd. In 2000, General Motors Asia Pacific (Japan) has been distributing and marketing TrailBlazer as well. In 2010, Mitsui Bussan Automotive distributes and markets Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Express, Chevrolet HHR, Silverado and Traverse.
Previously, he also marketed the Starcraft version of G-Van and Chevrolet Trailblazer. Mitsui Bussan Automotive has been importing and distributing certain GM models since 1992, but will stop their GM import business in November 2011, as GM Japan wants to consolidate its distribution channels. Chevrolet models that have been imported by Mitsui will no longer be sold after the existing inventory runs out. So there are three different distribution channels for Chevrolet branded vehicles at one time in Japan.
Malaysia
Chevrolet entered the Malaysian market in 2003, replacing Opel. Between 2003 and 2009, a joint venture between GM and DRB-HICOM was called Hicomobil, marketing Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet Nabira, and Chevrolet Lumina. The joint venture ended and Naza took over the Chevrolet dealership as Naza Quest Auto Sdn.Bhd in 2010. The Chevrolet Sonic range is Chevrolet Sonic, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Captiva, Chevrolet Orlando and Chevrolet Colorado.
Middle East
In the Middle East, cars, trucks, SUVs, and Chevrolet crossovers are sourced from GM Korea (in South Korea), GM in North America, and GM Holden (in Australia). The Middle East market has a separate division called the Chevrolet Special Vehicle, which (in December 2007) became a source of the CR8 sedan 400Ã, bhp (300Ã, kW) of Holden Special Vehicles. Holden Commodore was given a badge as Chevrolet Lumina in the Middle East, as well as South Africa. The longer Wheel Holden Caprice is sold as Chevrolet Caprice in the Middle East. The Middle Eastern fleet (mainly Saudi Arabia) also includes people like Cruze, Malibu and Sonic in the Sedan, Captiva category in SUV, Tahoe and Traverse categories in Wagon and Avalanche and Silverado in the Truck category.
Pakistan
In Pakistan, Chevrolet introduced its cars in collaboration with a local automotive manufacturer called Nexus Automotive. Formations of Chevrolet Pakistan include Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Joy, Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet Cruze, and Chevrolet Colorado.
Philippines
Chevrolet operations in the Philippines are under the control of The Covenant Car Company Inc. The company was officially established on July 1, 2009 and assumed business operations on October 1, 2009. 19 dealerships have been established across the country in 2012. Its current formats include Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Captiva, Chevrolet Colorado, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Orlando , Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Sonic, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet TrailBlazer, Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Traverse, and after 2014 its introduction, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Trax and Chevrolet Express Van.
South Korea
Many Chevrolet global vehicle markets are designed and manufactured by GM Korea South Korea, but they have been sold under the Daewoo Motors brand in South Korea until February 2011. Daewoo brands were completely replaced by Chevrolet in March 2011. All Daewoo products are relaunched under the Chevrolet brand, with the release of Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Orlando and Chevrolet Aveo. In 2015, Impala added to the lineup as Chevrolet started importing US-made sedans to South Korea for the first time.
Thai
American-made Chevrolet Colorado Pickup is also produced in Rayong, Thailand. Starting in 2003, Holden Commodore was dubbed the Chevrolet Lumina in Thailand for the VY and VZ series of models. Exports lasted until 2005.
General Motors is currently exploring cost-cutting options as part of its restructuring plan. One of these options involves expanding the Rayong, Thailand plant to add additional capacity to export Colorados to the US. This will allow Shreveport, the Louisiana plant to be closed (where Colorado is also manufactured). This scenario makes sense only if free trade agreements are signed between the US and Thailand, as American tariffs for pickup trucks imported from non-FTA countries are currently 25%. United Auto Workers is the most vocal opponent of changes in the tariff structure.
In addition to the Colorado pickup truck, General Motors began assembling the SUV Chevrolet Captiva sport utility vehicle at Rayong factory in June 2007. Thailand-made Captiva is based on the THETA platform under the C100 program code. Also produced at Rayong General Motors plant is the Chevrolet Aveo (launched in September 2009 under the T100 platform) and Chevrolet Cruze (launched in November 2010 under the GLOBAL DELTA platform).

Uzbekistan
General Motors Uzbekistan, or Uzbekistan GM, became Uz-Daewoo Auto's new name in March 2008 as part of a new joint venture owned by Uzavtosanoat JSC (75%) and General Motors Corporation (25%) with a factory in Asaka producing various Chevrolet models. Currently, in Uzbekistan produce models, such as, Damas (N150), Matiz (M150), Nexia (N150), Spark (M300), Epica, Malibu and Captiva (SUV).
Australia
Although the Australian market currently consists primarily of Australian automotive companies themselves in addition to Asian car brands, Australia also has a fair share of American cars.
The local Chevrolet assembly plant was built in Australia as early as 1918 and in 1926 the newly formed General Motors (Australia) Pty Ltd had set up an assembly plant in five Australian states to produce Chevrolet and other GM vehicles using a body supplied by Holden Motor Body. Builder. Merger General Motors (Australia) Pty Ltd with the troubled Holden Motor Body Builders in 1931 saw the creation of General Motors - Holden and the ongoing production of GM products including Chevrolet. GMH departs from a traditional US body style with the launch of the Chevrolet Coupe Utility in 1934 and the Chevrolet "Sloper" Coupe in 1935. Postwar production resumed in 1946. From 1949 Chevrolet Australia will be assembled locally from components imported from Chevrolet in Canada although the local production of the Coupe Utility body continued until 1952. 1968 is the last full year of Chevrolet assembly in Australia.
Classical models of Chevrolet like Bel Air, Biscayne, Impala etc., are still found in many states in Australia. From the early 1970s to early 1980s the name Chevrolet was also used on a variety of light commercials in Australia. This ranges from LUV (a rejuvenated Isuzu KB) to a third generation C-series truck. From 1998 to 2001, Chevrolet Suburban was sold in Australia as Holden Suburban.
Chevrolet and Holden share a number of models and model names including Malibu, Caprice, Colorado, Volt, Spark/Barina Spark, Sonic/Barina, Cruze, Equinox, and VF Commodore/Chevrolet SS. Holden VF Commodore exported from Australia to the United States when Chevrolet SS to Holden ended production in May 2017 during the transition period to the vehicle distribution platform sourced from American and international GM factories which are expected to become Holden vehicles.
In December 2017, GM announced Chevrolet will officially return to Australia and New Zealand in mid-2018, with the launch of Camaro 2SS Coupe and Silverado 2500HD/3500HD. This vehicle will retain the Chevrolet badge and signboard, and it will be converted to RHD in Australia. In addition to the announced launch, Holden Special Vehicles is confirmed in December 2017 that it will add the Camaro and Silverado to their performance lineup.
South Africa
In South Africa, Chevrolet was the main brand name of GM until 1982, with a number of Vauxhall Motors and Holden derivatives built under the Chevy name from 1965. In the 1970s, ads rattled "braaivleis, rugby, bright skies and Chevrolet" (adapted from the US "Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pies, and Chevrolet") came to symbolize the ideal lifestyle of white South African men. Holden in Australia uses the jingle "Football, Meat Pies, Kangaroos and Holden cars". Initially, Chevrolet is a CKD kit from a US model installed at their factory in Port Elizabeth. However, since South Africa is the right drive and the US is the left-hand drive, along with a boost by the South African government to use local content, Chevrolet like Biscayne is finally made entirely in South Africa, along with GM's "own car for South Africa": Ranger.
In the 1970s, the larger South African Chevrolet was based on Australian models of General Motors-Holden, Kommando based on Holden Kingswood and Constantia on Statesman, while the smaller Firenza was based on Vauxhall Viva. Chevrolet Nomad sold in South Africa is completely different from Nomad sold in America; While American Nomad was originally conceived as a station wagon version of the Corvette and eventually became a station wagon version of Bel Air, Nomad South Africa was the SUV of truck proportions before the popular SUV. Because local car content laws usually accept different machines than in their home market.
However, this was replaced by the Opel models such as Rekord, Commodore, and Senator, and in 1982 the Chevrolet brand was dropped for Opel. Due to the political climate at the time, GM decided to divest from South Africa in 1986, and local groups eventually bought GM operations in South Africa (including the Port Elizabeth plant) and renamed Delta Motor Corporation, which concentrated on Opels, Isuzus, and Suzukis, built under license.
However, thanks to an improved political climate in the 1990s, GM decided to re-enter South Africa, eventually purchasing the entire Delta. In 2001, the name Chevrolet made a comeback, used on Lumina, the rejuvenated Holden Commodore, and later, on the Daewoo lineup. The current Chevrolet (2013) includes Spark Lite (a rebadged Daewoo Matiz), Spark (third generation Matiz based on Chevrolet Beat 2007), Aveo Sedan and Hatch, Sonic Sedan and Hatch (second generation Aveo), Cruze Sedan and Hatch (powered by propulsion front wheel of the GM Delta II platform), Lumina Sedan (including Ute model), Chevrolet Orlando (a five-door and seven-seat compact MPV manufactured by GM Korea under the Chevrolet division for the world market), Chevrolet Captiva, a medium sport utility vehicle (SUV ) developed by GM Daewoo (now GM Korea) a subsidiary of General Motors (GM) of South Korea and sold under the brand Chevrolet, Chevrolet Trailblazer (intermediate sport). utility vehicles manufactured by Chevrolet division of American automaker General Motors and based on pickup truck chassis in this case Chevrolet Colorado 2012), and a pick-up version previously based on the Opel Corsa known as Corsa Ute; but the current model that works with GM Brazil that develops it is the Chevrolet Utility based on the Chevrolet Agila platform (a vehicle developed in Brazil and built in Argentina).
On May 19, 2017 GM announced that it would withdraw from South Africa, with its trucking division and factory changing hands to Isuzu while at the same time ending all sales and dealer networks of the Chevrolet brand by the end of 2017. GM will work with Isuzu and PSA (owner new Opel, which GM separates divisions into) to ensure existing customers receive parts and technical support during and after the company leaves the country.
Europe
Chevrolet Europe GmbH is a company based in Switzerland (in ZÃÆ'ürich) which mainly sells cars manufactured by GM Korea.
Until 2005, Chevrolet Europe sold several models, mostly US domestic market models (USDM) that were modified to meet European regulations. Among them are the Chevrolet Alero (which is the rejuvenated Oldsmobile Alero) and the Chevrolet Trans Sport (which is the Chevrolet Venture with the front end of the Pontiac Trans Sport). Among other models sold by Chevrolet Europe are Camaro, Corsica/Beretta, Corvette, Blazer, and TrailBlazer. The latest generation of North American Chevrolet Impala V8 sedans has also been available in Europe in recent years, marketed as a large family sedan and a more economical price alternative to Jaguars and BMW as high performance executive cars.
From 2005 all mainstream models from GM Daewoo were rebranded as Chevrolet in Europe. (The ownership of the SUV model in the former range of Daewoo has again become the current ownership of SsangYong Motor Company.) But Daewoo's name is maintained in South Korea and Vietnam until 2011. Worldwide, most Daewoo models have been wearing Chevrolet badges since 2003. Exceptions include use Suzuki badges in the United States and Canada, the Pontiac badge in Canada, the Holden badges in Australia and New Zealand, and the Buick badge in China.
During the mid-2000s, Corvette and Cadillac were marketed in Europe via a separate distribution channel operated by the Dutch-based Kroymans Corporation Group but after its bankruptcy in 2010, General Motors established a new Swiss-based subsidiary to re-launch Chevrolet in Europe and adding Corvette, Camaro and Malibu models to the European range.
In December 2013, General Motors announced that from early 2016 it would reduce its presence in Europe only to its iconic models, such as the Corvette, to strengthen the Opel and Vauxhall brands. Despite announcing that they will maintain a wide presence in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States, General Motors later announced that it would reduce their composition to the iconic model in Russia, and moreover, the Opel division would also be out of the Russian market by the end of 2015, while also abandoning production at their Saint Petersburg plant. In March 2016, only US-made Corvette Stingray and Tahoe, as well as Russian-made Niva, were offered on the Russian market.
Chevrolet's sales in Western and Central Europe are around 200,000 units a year since 2005, reaching 216,160 units in 2007, while market share hit a high of 1.28 percent in 2012. In Russia, sales grew constantly over the same period, from 67,000 units in in 2005 to 205,040 units in 2012, Chevrolet holds a market share of 6.84 percent and became the top import car brand. In 2012, the top markets for Chevrolet in Europe, with the number of registrations, are Italy (31,150), Germany (29,694), France (24,613), Turkey (18,492) and Spain (15,165). The best-selling model during the same year was Aveo (54,800), followed by Spark (47,600) and Cruze (40,500).
Polish
During World War II in Poland Home Army, the Polish resistance movement built an improvised armored car - Kubu? which is based on a Chevrolet 157 civil truck chassis, a license built in pre-war Poland by the Lilpop company, Rau i Loewenstein. The car was used against the German army in Warsaw during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. The broken camp? survived the war and in 1945 was drawn to the Polish Army Museum where it is currently on display. A full-scale operational replica was created in 2004 by Juliusz Siudzi? Skiing and, in 2009, at an exhibition at the Warsaw Uprising Museum.
Between fall 2007 and early 2011, the Chevrolet Aveo is produced at the FSO plant in Warsaw, in collaboration with Ukrainian UkrAVTO companies, both in hatchback and sedan styles. Between 2005 and 2014 GM sold about 60,000 cars under the Chevrolet brand representing a market share of 0.5-1% for Opel's 7% market share every year.
Russian
GM-AvtoVAZ is a joint venture between GM and Russian company AvtoVAZ which was founded in 2001, which manufactures Chevrolet Niva, an SUV designed specifically for the Russian market and condition.
General Motors also operates the GM Avto factory, located in Saint Petersburg and opened in 2008. It is upgraded in 2012 and has produced Opel Between and Chevrolet Captiva SUVs, Chevrolet Cruze from late 2009, and Trailblazer from semi-knocked down devices. It stopped production in July 2015, before Chevrolet exited the Russian market at the end of the year.
In collaboration with the Russian company GAZ, the second generation Chevrolet Aveo is manufactured at the plant in Nizhny Novgorod for the Russian market, starting from early 2013, until 2015.
Chevrolet vehicles are also manufactured at the Avtotor plant, located in Kaliningrad. The models produced here are Lacetti, Aveo, Epica, Captiva, Orlando and Tahoe.
Currently (as per December 2017), Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Corvette, and Chevrolet Niva are officially available for sale in Russia.
South America
Historically, many Latin American market vehicles from GM are derivative modifications of older models of GM North American and European operations. S10 and Blazer currently exemplify this strategy. However, more modern vehicles are now being marketed due to changing market conditions and increased competition. In addition to old models made in Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, and Mercosur countries, Korean-sourced cars from Daewoo factories, some markets also make Korea and the US make Chevrolet above their local line-up. Argentina
In 1924, General Motors began to import the Chevrolet Double Phaeton model and was greeted with great demand. In 1925, to reduce costs in the Argentine market, General Motors decided to produce in Argentina and start producing sedans, roadster, truck chassis and Chevrolet Double Phaeton, now called "Especial Argentino", a model specially designed for the Argentine market. Sales increased and soon the Oldsmobile, Oakland and Pontiac units were put into the assembly line.
When the Second World War broke out, the operation was complicated. In 1941 Chevrolet 250,000 was made, but the product shortage made car production impossible. The last Chevrolet came out of the factory in August 1942. To avoid total cessation, the company made electric and portable refrigerators and car accessories among other items. After the war, GM began producing Oldsmobile and Pontiac lines and then Chevrolet added.
In 1959, manufacturing factories were enlarged and formed to produce cars, pickups and trucks. On January 25, 1960, Argentina's first Chevrolet pick-up was introduced. The following year the national government approved an investment plan of 45 million dollars including a factory of 12,000 m 2 . On 12 March 1962 the first Chevrolet 400 was made based on Chevy II North America. The initial plan was considered a national integration of 50% during the first year of production; This amount should be 90% in 1964 with the production of 15,000 units. In 1969, the Chevy line, derived from Chevy Nova America, was presented.
In the mid-seventies, the market share of General Motors was sharply reduced from 9% in 1976 to 2% in 1978. Losses exceeded $ 30 million and US parent companies decided to discontinue production activities in Argentina.
The Chevrolet trademark reappeared in 1985 for the production of pick-ups in the C-20 and D-20 versions. In 1995, a plan for manufacturing devoted to special exports to Brazil and other Mercosur countries was realized with the construction of a new facility near Rosario, Santa Fe, for the production of the Chevrolet Corsa-based Opel and the Suzuki-based Chevrolet Grand. Vitara 4x4.
In 2010, this range is based on various Korean GM-based cars, along with Chevrolet Prisma Brazil.
Brazil
In Brazil, the Chevrolet Opala is based on the German Opel Record and Chevrolet Nova America from the late 1960s, continuing in production until the early 1990s, when it was replaced by the Opel Omega version. In the basic version there are 151 four-cylinder engines with 82 hp and 143.2 lbft. The top of the line version is called Opala SS and uses the GM 250-S inline six-cylinder engine and has a solid lift with 171 hp and 278.5 lbft, which led to a record breaking the South American road in 1976, with 118.36 mph (190.47 km/hour), beating the Puma GTB (which also uses a GM 250 inline six-cylinder engine, but without solid lifter) and the Brazilian version of the Dodge Charger R/T 318 and the Ford Maverick V8 302 quadrijet. Other small Chevrolets in Brazil, such as Kadett and Monza, are based on Opel Kadett and Ascona.
The Chevrolet product lineup in Brazil consists of several exclusive designs such as the Celta Corsa "B", sold in Argentina under the Suzuki, Astra, and Vectra brands designed by Brazil based on Opel Astra H. Current passenger car spaces include Cruze, Captiva, Agile hatchback , Chevrolet Onix. The latest home-based product is the Chevrolet Prisma MKII, which was released in 2013.
Utility vehicles and four wheeled vehicles include S10, Blazer, and Montana. The Montana is a compact pickup truck, based on Agile, which is also sold in other Latin American markets. From the 1960s to the mid-1980s, there was also a large station wagon, which came from a C10 truck (somewhat similar to Suburban), called Veraneio.
Chile
Chile has a mixture of Chevrolet models from various GM brands and branded platforms such as Chevrolet. The models come for Chevrolet USA, GM Korea, Mexico, India and other origins. Chevrolet production in Chile began in 1962, although initially through local partners (in this case, Avayu with Nova II). The Chevrolet C/K truck was produced in Chile between 1975-88.
Ecuador
Chevrolet has been operating in Ecuador for 80 years. GM Ecuador sells Chevrolet AS along with models sourced from GM Korea. It also sold the Suzuki Supercarry 1983 under the Chevrolet name, and the Isuzu Rodeo was sold as a Chevrolet Rodeo throughout the 1990s.
Venezuela
In Venezuela, Chevrolet has been in operation since 1948, when truck production began in Caracas. In 1979, production was transferred to a factory in Valencia purchased from Chrysler. Chevrolet collected more than 1,500,000 vehicles in the first 50 years in Venezuela.
Colombian
The Colombian Automotive Factory SA (Colmotores) was established in 1956 and initially produced vehicles in Austin; in the 60s, Simca and Dodge cars (the first car produced was Coronet 440); and then, in 1980, started producing Chevrolet cars. Currently Colmotores owns more than 75% of the domestic market, with models from GM Korea and Suzuki. Particularly worth mentioning are Aveo, Optra, and Spark.
Trinidad and Tobago
Since the early 1920s, Chevrolet cars and trucks are marketed in the country. The Deluxe Master Sedan in the late 1930s was considered the height of luxury. All cars sold through local dealers, Neal and Massey (also franchisees for Vauxhall and Buick), are the right car, and imported from Canada and Australia. Throughout the 1940s and 1950s, GM maintained its market presence with Bel Air, Impala and Fleetline. During the late 1960s and early 1970s, Holden DeVilles Australia was labeled as sold Chevrolet Caprices, although some limited edition "Islander" American Chevrolet Caprices were imported. Neal and Massey handed GM a franchise in 1974 and the brand left the market.
During the period 1998-2001, Southern Sales Ltd. importing Chevy Monza and Joy. Based on the Opel Corsa platform and assembled in Mexico, this is the cheapest new car available. Poor building quality, unprofessional dealer services, and limited supply of parts make this car out of the market with just a few units sold. In 2003, local Renault dealers marketed the Aveo sedan and hatchback, as well as the rejuvenated Opel sedan (Suzuki Forenza), with limited success.
A more intensive marketing campaign by the new Chevrolet dealer, Lifestyle Motors, has achieved more success. Available models are Chevrolet Colorado (Isuzu D-Max twin), Spark (micro car based on Daewoo Matiz), Aveo sedan and hatchback, Optra sedan, hatchback and wagon, Captiva SUV, and large Epica sedan. In March 2011, the Cruze was added to the lineup and features a 1.8 liter gasoline engine. This bridges the gap between Optra and Epica models. Once Optra is removed, a 1.6-liter Cruze will be available.

Logo Chevrolet bowtie
The Chevrolet bowtie logo was introduced by company co-founder William C. Durant at the end of 1913. According to the official publication of the company titled The Chevrolet Story in 1961, the logo was derived from Durant's imagination when, as a world In 1908, he saw the pattern of marching into infinity as a design on the wallpaper in a French hotel. She tore a piece of Sports Wallpaper and saved it to show friends, thinking that it would make a good nameplate for a car. However, in an interview with Durant's widow, Catherine, published in the 1986 edition of Chevrolet Pro Management Magazine, Catherine tells how she and her husband were on vacation in Hot Springs, Virginia, in 1912. While reading a newspaper in their hotel room, Durant looked at a design and exclaimed, "I think it will be a very good emblem for Chevrolet." Unfortunately, at that moment, Mrs. Durant did not explain what his motive was or how the motive was used. Ken Kaufmann, historian and editor of The Chevrolet Review, was found in the 12 November 1911 edition of the Atlanta Constitution newspaper, an advertisement from Southern Compressed Coal Company for "Coalettes", a product of ingredients fuel that is purified for fire. The Coalettes logo, as published in the ad, has a crooked bowtie shape, much like the shape that will soon become an icon of Chevrolet. The date of the paper was only nine days after the merger of Chevrolet Motor Co. Another explanation linked the design with a stylized Swiss flag version. Louis Chevrolet was born in Switzerland at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Canton of NeuchÃÆ'à ¢ tel, to the parents of France, on Christmas Day 1878. Issue 2 October 1913, The Washington Post seems, being the earliest example of a symbol used to advertise a brand.
The first embossed textless bowti logo first appeared in 1985, as part of the Heartbeat of America advertising campaign. In 2004, Chevrolet began a phase-in bowtie of gold that served as a brand identity for all its cars and trucks marketed globally, where previously the logo was blue for passenger cars and gold for trucks.
Typography
Klavika Condensed fonts are designed by Design Type Foundry type design studio under Aaron CarÃÆ'ámbula art direction for General Motors FutureBrand marketers as part of Chevrolet's 2006 redesign. In the Creative Young Creator's corporate identity guide, Klavika is registered for use in all communications materials. Klavika started in 2012 and was replaced by Knockout (from Hoefler & Frere-Jones) while the campaign is still ongoing. Currently, Goodby, Silverstein & amp; Partners use the typographic family of Louis , a bizarre, readable and understandable gothic group named after co-founder Louis Chevrolet, and Durant , a roman group, as simplified and legible. , named after founder William Durant, in print media, television, and Chevrolet website advertising.

Marketing agency
FutureBrand, an Interpublic Group of Companies, has been working with General Motors since 2000, which is also involved in font making which will be sold as Klavika Condensed, as part of Chevrolet's redesign in 2006.
In 2010, General Motors replaced the Campbell-Ewald agency, also from the Interpublic Group of Companies, with Publicis Worldwide. Campbell-Ewald has been serving Chevrolet since 1919. In May 2010, Chevrolet advertising accounts were awarded to Goodby, Silverstein and Partners.
As part of an effort to attract drivers aged 18 to 24, General Motors hired MTV Scratch. Some of the collaboration results include Chevy ads that show their cars skydiving, bungee jumping, doing another action. This ad was produced with consultations from students from UCLA, Pepperdyne and high school. Some of the recordings were later used in the Chevrolet Sonic ad entitled 'Stunt Anthem' during Super Bowl XLVI.
In March 2012, General Motors announced two competing agencies, Goodby, Goody, Silverstein, and San Francisco Partners (part of Omnicom Group), and New York-based McCann Erickson Worldwide (part of the Interpublic Group), will join to form equal joint efforts. a company called Commonwealth to handle most Chevrolet ads. The only naming-Chevrolet
In 2010, a memo signed by vice president of sales and sales services of Chevrolet Alan Batey and vice president of General Motors marketing division, Jim Campbell, was sent to Chevrolet employees at its Detroit headquarters instructing employees to use only Chevrolet when handling the brand , to present a consistent brand message. A postscript to a memo says a sort of booty jar - plastic "Chevy" can - has been placed in the hallway. "Every time someone uses 'Chevy' instead of Chevrolet," said the letter, the employee is expected to install a quarter of a can. The result will be spent on "team building activities." Paul Worthington, chief strategist for Wolff Olins, notes that branding efforts run counter to the trend in which company names become more relaxed. Ian Beavis of Nielsen Automotive Group notes that marketers can not control what consumers call their products, but nicknames do not work in new markets where Chevrolet is trying to get started. After the release of the memo, General Motors published a statement claiming that the record was not discouraging customers or enthusiasts using the Chevy's name. Following the 2010 memo incident, the Chevy Runs Deep campaign still uses the name 'Chevy', while the Driving Campaign Our World Forward and Find New Roads use the name 'Chevrolet'.
Watch
In 2007, General Motors allowed AJS-Production SA to register the Louis Chevrolet trademark for the premium quality line of Swiss watches marketed under the Louis Chevrolet brand. Although the watch was wearing the name Louis Chevrolet, they were not marketed or produced with General Motors.
The watch brand rewarded Louis Chevrolet, one of the founders of the Chevrolet car company, whose father was a watchmaker and in his childhood helped his father at the desk. The collection was called Frontenac, a name inherited from a race car company founded by Louis Chevrolet. The collection of Chevrolet watches consists of automatic models, manual wounds and quartz, equipped with ETA and Ronda movements.
The Louis Chevrolet Frontenac watch, manufactured in Porrentruy, the Swiss region of Jura, features styling cues suggested by Chevrolet cars. This collection was developed when applying the same materials as used in the car industry. Appliques are obscured on Chevrolet watches reminiscent of metal forms from old dashboards. The number "8", the Chevrolet race number, is on display in the suitcase.
