Histori
In 1979, Volkswagen AG held a 67 percent stake in Chrysler Motors do Brasil Ltda., A Brazilian commercial vehicle manufacturer. In 1980, Volkswagen acquired the remaining shares in Chrysler, renamed Volkswagen CaminhÃÆ'Ãμes e ÃÆ' â ⬠nibus Ltda., And assigned it to the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle division.
In the early 2000s, Volkswagen donated 3 billion German marks to Scania AB, controlling 34 percent of the voting rights and holding 18.7 percent of the share capital. In 2006, MAN SE presented Volkswagen and other Scania shareholders with a takeover bid of 9.6 billion euros. The takeover will create Europe's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer. A few days later, Volkswagen rejected the offer, and alluded to the issue of a potential truck alliance for the first time. In October 2006, Volkswagen AG announced that it had acquired 15 percent of MAN SE, but did not intend to take over. On October 12, 2006, MAN SE raised the takeover bid to Scania for 400 million euros, bringing its total to 10 billion euros. At the same time, he bought additional shares, giving him control over about 14 percent of Scania AB. After the partners also rejected the revised offer, MAN withdrew the offer in January 2007 and started talking about possible alliances between the three companies. To further consolidate this alliance, Volkswagen acquired another 14.9 percent of MAN. Offer must apply starting from 30 percent only. Shortly after, Volkswagen announced that it now holds 35.3 percent of the Scania vote. Volkswagen acquired a further 30.62 percent of voting rights from Swedish AB investors and the Wallenberg family foundation (family of leading Swedish industrialists) in March 2008. Volkswagen has controlled this stake in the past by way of an agreement with existing shareholders.
In December 2008, Volkswagen AG sold its Brazil subsidiary, Volkswagen CaminhÃÆ'Ãμes e ÃÆ' â ⬠nibus Ltda. to MAN SE for 1.2 billion euros. The company is incorporated in MAN Latin America Ltda. with a new name, but still sells the majority of heavy trucks and buses under the VW brand, along with MAN SE products. Volkswagen acquired further MAN SE shares in early May 2011 and is required to make a takeover bid, which was made at the end of the same month. Volkswagen holds the majority of the voting rights at 55.9 percent at the end of the acceptance period. As part of a further purchase of shares, Volkswagen announced 75.03 percent voting rights on June 6, 2012. Due to the statute blocking that caused a minority of 25 percent, Volkswagen was given sole control over MAN SE. On April 16, 2013, Volkswagen AG filed "Truck & Bus GmbH" to be included in the Wolfsburg city commercial listing. As part of this new company, Volkswagen raised its stake in MAN SE, with whom Truck & amp; Bus GmbH signed a control and profit transfer agreement on June 6, 2013. Volkswagen AG holds more than 89 percent of Scania AB voting rights as a result of its subsidiary, MAN. In February 2014, Volkswagen issued a voluntary public takeover bid to Scania's remaining shareholders. At the end of the June 2014 acceptance period, Volkswagen holds 99.57 percent of the voting rights. After extortion under Swedish legislation, Volkswagen AG now holds 83 percent of the voting rights directly and 17 per cent through MAN SE.
In early July 2015, Truck & amp; Bus GmbH decided to change its name to Volkswagen Truck & amp; Bus GmbH, a company based in Braunschweig. Andreas Renschler, responsible for the Commercial Vehicle Division of Management Board of Volkswagen AG, became Managing Director. Martin Winterkorn was appointed from the Chairman of the Management Board of Volkswagen AG to Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Shares in MAN and Scania were transferred to the parent company that was renamed. The Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle remains part of Volkswagen AG in legal terms, but is a partner and is controlled by a new commercial vehicle network from an organizational and operational point of view.
On June 20, 2018, it was announced that Volkswagen Truck & amp; The bus is renamed to TRATON GROUP, effective from the 3rd quarter of 2018.
On June 26, 2018 Volkswagen Truck & amp; Bus GmbH is converted into German stock company (Aktiengesellschaft, or 'AG' for short term), becomes Volkswagen Truck & amp; Bus AG.

Company strategy
Volkswagen Truck & amp; Bus has stated its goal to become the industry's global champion over the next decade. According to the Company, this is not just a measure - that is pure sales figures. The goal is to lead the parent company to the top of the commercial vehicle industry in terms of profitability, innovation, and, above all, customer satisfaction. The key pillars of this strategy are the expansion of local market leadership and global expansion, and the creation of synergies through the deep cooperation between brands and the common culture within the Group. Packing a commercial vehicle brand under one roof enables a stronger focus on their particular problem and therefore speeds up the decision-making process.
In the future, a team of MAN and Scania engineers will jointly develop core powertrain components. This will create a common platform for engine, transmission, axle, and aftertreatment disposal systems, which can then be modified to fit the brand. Cross-brand project group management will be taken over by one of the two companies. The concept of lead engineering ensures that the requirements of all parties involved are taken into account, brand independence is maintained and, at the same time, responsibility is clearly defined. Each brand leads itself: Scania is responsible for large engines with a capacity of 13 liters, while MAN is responsible for smaller units with engines of five to nine liters. Damage to exhaust systems and gearboxes is similar.
The global expansion has been driven by strategic partnerships with US commercial vehicle maker Navistar International Corporation. Volkswagen Truck & amp; The bus acquired a 16.6 percent stake in Navistar as part of a capital increase. Both companies enter into strategic technology and provide cooperative initiatives and also set up joint ventures. With the completion of this transaction, Volkswagen Truck & amp; Bus GmbH secures access to important North American markets, where the Group has not been represented. Strategic technology and supply cooperation will make Volkswagen Truck & amp; Bus is one of Navistar's most important technology partners. The focus is on general drive systems. The partnership will also include collaboration on many other aspects of commercial vehicle development in the future.
