Sons of Guns is a reality television series aired on the Discovery Channel between 2011 and 2014. The series center at Red Jacket Firearms LLC, a Louisiana-based business that produces and sells special firearms to law enforcement, security companies, and private collectors. Will Hayden is the founder and store owner, while his daughter and business partner Stephanie runs the office.
As with the Discovery Channel series MythBusters , this event practiced self-censorship levels and security awareness. Each episode begins with a staff member (usually Will) warning viewers not to try anything indicated on the show at home. In addition, during the catastrophic failure scenes, the crew will remind the audience not to try anything at home. The program also makes a point of interest to avoid showing specific details about how weapons modification or fabrication is performed.
After five seasons, the show was canceled on August 27, 2014, as a direct result of Hayden's arrest over various sexual allegations. On April 7, 2017, Hayden was found guilty of two counts of rape and one charge of rape by force. On May 11, 2017, Hayden was sentenced to two life sentences plus 40 years in prison to be served in sequence, for the rape of two girls between the ages of 11 and 13.

Legal issues
- Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Settlement
According to TMZ.com, during a routine inspection by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) in 2009, the Red Jacket can not explain ten parts of registered firearms. In a settlement, William Hayden and Stephanie Hayden gave up their weapons-making license and were allowed to select a licensed individual to control the Red Jacket. At first, the man was Vincent Buckles, but Buckles had left the company and now two others controlled the company.
In the WBRZ article, Prosecutor Craig Davidson, Jr., said that 10 weapons are not lost from the store. Instead, one or two weapons were stolen during 2001-2008. Davidson claims the rest of the lost weapons are recipients that are discarded or destroyed when a thief makes a mistake. Although Davidson characterizes the lost weapon as a "simple bookkeeping mistake", ATF requires serial numbers to be tracked. Will and Stephanie Hayden did not track, so, according to Davidson, Hayden and ATF agreed to close Red Jacket, Inc.
Davidson further stated that at the time, Hayden had been in discussions with the Discovery Channel about the show and had plans to start another business, Red Jacket Firearms, L.L.C. Will Hayden is not an officer of Red Jacket Firearms, L.L.C. When Davidson was asked why Hayden was not an officer, Davidson stated the reason was "a secret business decision".
- Dallas Fort Worth airport incident
In September 2011, Jupiter Entertainment, the production company of Sons of Guns, made the evening news when his staff member, on the tenth anniversary of the September 11 attacks, parked a rental truck, containing automatic weapons and fireworks, outside Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport while waiting for co-workers. Part of Terminal B was closed for several hours while the FBI investigated but found no errors. An executive from the production company said he regretted the incident and blamed him for "a simple but colossal mistake in judgment by a member of our staff."
- Rape, harassment and arrest attack
On August 27, 2014, the series was canceled unexpectedly after it was revealed that a child who harmed, child rape, and allegations of abuse were brought against Will Hayden. "Given the serious and appalling nature of the charges against Will Hayden, we have decided to stop further production of the 'Sons of Guns' and cancel the series," said a Discovery Channel representative to TMZ. After the announcement, Discovery's channel website was "scrubbed" from information about the show. In September, Hayden's eldest daughter, business partner, and Sons of Guns' playmate Stephanie Hayden altered her claim from defending her father to accuse her of raping and torturing her as a child.
Since the cancellation of the event, Kris Ford was arrested on charges of child abuse and for underage aggression. Stephanie Hayden-Ford, who was the mother of a child from a previous relationship, was also arrested for alleged assault on Friday 17 October 2014. The bail was set at $ 25,000 each according to WWL, paid and the couple released from prison.
Confidence of child rape
On August 11, 2014, Hayden was arrested and accused of harassing juvenile crime and crimes against nature. Hayden said the allegations were wrong and made in retaliation by a vengeful ex-girlfriend, the 12-year-old girl's mother. He was later accused of raping a child based on a victim's statement.
The charge resulted in the cancellation of the Sons of Guns . Hayden is also accused of rape aggravated by his eldest daughter. He told police he was raped 22 years earlier when he was 12 years old by his father, Hayden. He came forward after the allegations were made against Hayden. As a result of these last allegations, the guarantee was raised from $ 200,000 to $ 350,000. In January 2015, he pleaded not guilty. In August 2015, the judge acquitted three private lawyers from Hayden's case per lawyer's request. The lawyers say that the secret conditions for their representatives have not been met, but that there is "no bitterness" between them and Hayden. Hayden was represented by a public defender on the trial date later.
On April 7, 2017, Hayden was found guilty of two counts of rape and one forced rape, two girls for two decades. On May 11, 2017, Hayden was sentenced to two life sentences (compulsory for aggravated rape), to run simultaneously, plus 40 years, to run consecutively, in prison. He is not eligible for parole, probation, or reprieve, and will spend the rest of his life in custody.
On July 12, 2017, after pleading no contest on the charges he faced, Hayden was sentenced by Justice Livingston Parish Robert Morrison for a third life sentence for rape. Morrison ordered that the new phrase be executed in conjunction with Hayden's previously ordered sentences. Hayden has now been sentenced to three life sentences plus 40 years and transferred to the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola.
