It is dedicated to people affected by the flood. By 2016, the Southern Louisiana community was hit by two major floods in a matter of six months. Floods hit John Schneider Studios who sat in almost 4 feet of water. Sitting in a recording studio without furniture, Schneider began organizing songs such as "How Do You Stop The Water", "The Cajun Navy", and "Every Friday Night" before registering songwriters Scott Innis and Phil Redrow to help bring the songs come alive.. Instead of sitting in a songwriting session, Schneider and production partner Alicia Allain sent photos and videos to Innis and Redrow about the destruction that Louisiana suffered to capture the monstrosity of the flood through music. The songs came alive when Schneider recorded every song in his empty studio, creating space to pick up the right sound. Schneider was later listed on keyboardist/vocalist LeRoux Nelson Blanchard to combine and master the 10-track album. Schneider named the album by referring to single and double celled trailers that emerged after the flood.

It was a big effort, but for Schneider it was the best way for him to recover from his hard times. "What's happening is that we experienced a 100-year flood in March 2016, and then [girlfriend and production partner] Alicia [Allain] and I have a movie studio there," Schneider told PopCulture.com. "It's basically broken, because it's under three feet of water. We fix it all, make the way back, get everything destroyed, that's just about everything. The water does not go home but elsewhere, Fix it up and make two movies In August, we experienced a 1000-year flood, four feet higher than March, everything we repaired in the summer was destroyed again, and everything that was not gotten in March was destroyed in August, bad. "It was Allain's idea that the best way for Schneider to come forward is to make music again, and ideas for the Odyssey are born. "Alicia is just as ambitious as I am, and I'm not sure why she got the idea," Schneider said. "It was his idea to do music again, about the flood. We have a songwriter who is my friend, who has a tragic image of a valuable belonging to a person who was destroyed by the side of the road. Thus a few songs are written, and if you will wrote a few songs, why not record them? So we recorded them in the flood house we used to live in. Because it's a pecan wood, that's great. From 1910, the house was built in 1910. So it sounds cool. "Schneider hopes that his new music will attracted new fans, who were unaware of his talent beyond the stage. "I've never had music since 1990. People respond to that music, and one thing leads to other music," Schneider said. "It's funny.Although I have many songs No. 1, people say, 'Oh, I love the Dukes of Hazzard songs you sing!' Well, I do not sing it, Waylon Jennings sings it.I'm famous for music with songs that never sung.Crazy. "More than a dozen artists joined Schneider in recording songs for the Odyssey, including Tanya Tucker, John Conlee, Steve Wariner, Collin Raye, Mark Wills, Jamie O'Neal, Heidi Newfield, Bobby Bare, Kelly Lang, Jim Brown, Danny Shirley, Doug Supernaw and Marty Raybon, among others.
