Fox Valley Technical College (also Fox Valley Tech and FVTC) is an engineering college for the Appleton, Wisconsin area. This is a member of the Wisconsin Technical Lecture System.

Serving approximately 50,000 people each year, FVTC provides job-related career training as well as technical education, basic, and sustainable adults. In addition, it offers customized employee training.

The school offers more than 200 associate titles, technical diplomas, and certificate programs as well as instruction related to 20 apprenticeship trade. It has a credit transfer agreement with over 30 colleges and four universities.

The main campus is in Appleton with a second campus in Oshkosh. FVTC has a smaller regional center in Chilton, Clintonville, Waupaca, and Wautoma. It also operates the Public Safety Training Center in Greenville.

Accreditation

FVTC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. FVTC maintains its accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission through the Academic Quality Improvement process (AQIP). FVTC has been accredited by the NCA since 1970.

History

Beginning in 1912, vocational schools were formed in six locations (Appleton, Brillion, Kaukauna, Menasha, Neenah, and Oshkosh) in the district today. In 1967, the Wisconsin Legislature divided the country into sixteen districts, leading to the establishment of the Fox Valley Technical Institute (FVTI). In 1987, the college (along with all state technical colleges) was renamed and became known as Fox Valley Technical College.

Recognition

The Association of Information Technology Professional Club (AITP) schools has won several national awards at the AITP national convention. The FVTC club competes against the same requirements against clubs from national colleges the main four years even though it is a two-year college that offers only an Associate degree.

The AITP Club FVTC won its first national award when it took the first place award in Graphic Communication at the 2009 national convention. For 2010, the club won the "Graphic Communication Contest" category and the "Top Score of the Certification Faculty - ACP", ranked second against 124 colleges high in the "PC Troubleshooting" category, and took third place in "AITP Student Banner Contest". Fox Valley AITP Club was awarded "The Best AITP Students of the Year (2008-2009) - Region 5".

In 2011, the club won first place honors for the third year in a row. It took first place in the category of "Professional Banner" and second place in the category "Artistic Banner". Club adviser Brenda Wilz was awarded "AITP 2011 Faculty Advisor This Year".
