Careers

He started his artistic career by participating in various radio festivals and radio competitions, secretly supported by his father's grandfather, who always believed in his talent and became his first fan. In 1959, with the consent of his parents, he participated in the Primer Aplauso television program, broadcast by TelevisionÃÆ'³n EspaÃÆ' Â ± ola. The theme he chose for the contest is the traditional song "La sombra vendo". Luis Sanz, a Madrid manager who watched the show, was impressed by his talent and personality. Sanz contacted the program for the names and addresses of young contestants.

Acting

His first film was CanciÃÆ'³n de Juventud (1961) directed by Luis Lucia. This film plot depicts a teenager with her own personality. The film scored big box office and successful critics. This success is repeated in other Spanish-speaking countries where the film is playing. Soon DÃÆ'ºrcal became the star of RocÃÆ'o de La Mancha . After this, he got his first record deal with Transnational Phonogram (now Universal Music). The songs that the artist played in both films were presented to make his first album, "Las pelÃÆ'culas de RocÃÆ'o DÃÆ'ºrcal" (1962).

In his third film, Tengo 17 aÃÆ' Â ± os (1964), DÃÆ'ºrcal put aside his role as "child star". That same year, she appeared in her first drama theater, Un domingo en Nueva York , where she was revealed as a great theater actress. In 1965 he filmed MÃÆ'¡s bonita que ninguna ; band Los Brincos wrote several songs for the film. In 1966, he shared the spotlight with Enrique GuzmÃÆ'¡n in the movie AcompÃÆ'¡ÃÆ' Â ± ame . He started performing duets with singers like Jaime Morey and Amalia de Isaura. Then he co-starred in the movie Amor en el Aire (1967) with Argentine young singer and writer Palito Ortega. In 1968 he filmed Cristina GuzmÃÆ'¡n , the first of his films for audiences over 18 years old.

Sing

In 1970 DÃÆ' ºrcal married Filipino-born musician Antonio Morales (known professionally as JÃÆ'ºnior), who will organize his singing career. In 1972, Antonio Morales started a series of television shows in Spain and Latin America singing with his wife as a duet. Their first child, Spanish actress Carmen Morales de las Heras, was born in December 1970. After the birth of their second child, Antonio Morales de las Heras, in April 1974, Morales decided to leave his career to make time for their children. Meanwhile, DÃÆ'ºrcal continues his film and singing career. In 1979 he had his third child, Shaila Morales de las Heras, who took a singing career under the stage name Shaila DÃÆ'ºrcal and also a successful singer.

In 1977, DÃÆ'ºrcal signed a contract with Ariola Eurodisc (with singer-songwriter Camilo Sesto supporting him in his projects) dedicating himself to a music career. That year, while in Mexico, he met Mexican singer-songwriter Alberto Aguilera Valadez, better known as Juan Gabriel, who decided to record the entire album rancheras by RocÃÆ'o DÃÆ'ºrcal entitled RocÃÆ'o DÃÆ'ºrcal canta a Juan Gabriel . Without further advertising, LP receives a high level of sales, so DÃÆ'ºrcal and Juan Gabriel consider the possibility of new recording together. They finally performed 5 LPs, marking the resurrection of RocÃÆ'o DÃÆ'ºrcal as a singer. The last collaboration between DÃÆ' ºrcal and Juan Gabriel appeared in 10 albums. The album DÃÆ'ºrcal named Canta A Juan Gabriel Volumen 6 (1984) is one of ten best-selling albums in Mexican history. For this album RocÃÆ'o DÃÆ'ºrcal received his first Grammy Award nomination.

The DÃÆ'ºrcal collaboration with Juan Gabriel was interrupted by differences of opinion between the artist and because of Juan Gabriel's problems with his record label, so DÃÆ'ºrcal continued to record albums with other songwriters such as Marco Antonio SolÃÆ's and Rafael PÃÆ' Â © rez Botija (with whom under his leadership in 1981 he record ballad album Confidencias) . In 1988 he recorded the album Como Tu Mujer with producer Marco Antonio Solis.

In 1990, he recorded his first album in a CD format titled Si Te Pudiera Mentir . In 1991, Durcal offered a concert at the National Auditorium in Mexico City, recorded in a double disk of El Concierto... En Vivo. . Between 1992 and 1993 he recorded the album Desaires, produced by Mexican singer and songwriter Joan SebastiÃÆ'¡n. In this album he reprises ranchera.

In 1995 he launched his product Hay Amores Y Amores , with songs written and produced by Roberto Livi from Argentina. For this album he was nominated again to the Grammy Awards in the category "Best Latin Pop Album". In 1997 Juntos Otra Vez's double album brought RocÃÆ'o DÃÆ'ºrcal and Juan Gabriel together again for the last time. The album was created by engagement with the record company and not by the desire of the two artists to continue to work together.

In 1998, under the direction of his inventor Luis Sanz, he starred in the Spanish TV show "Los negocios de mamÃÆ'¡" broadcast by TelevisionÃÆ'³n EspaÃÆ' Â ± ola. In 2000, he celebrated 40 years in the industry. That year he returned to ranchera music with the album Caricias , under the production of songwriter and producer Bebu Silvetti. In 2001 RocÃÆ'o DÃÆ'ºrcal recorded Entre Tangos Y Mariachi, again produced by Bebu Silvetti, an album that included 10 of Argentina's most famous tango that was interpreted in ranchero/bolero style like the previous album. In the summer of 2001 DÃÆ'º rcal made a successful tour in Spain, after 13 years of no show in Spain.

After a year and a half absence, he returned to the stage on 19 September 2002 with a concert at the National Auditorium in Mexico, recorded on a double album released on CD and then on DVD on October 22, 2002, En Concierto... Inolvidable . The album was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award. In 2003, the artist received another Latin Grammy Award nomination for his album Caramelito , produced by Kike Santander. In May 2004 he returned to Spain to record what would be his last album Alma Ranchera , which was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award, but did not win.

Disease and death

In 2001, after recording his album Entre Tangos y Mariachi , DÃÆ'ºrcal was diagnosed with uterine cancer. DÃÆ'ºrcal canceled his tour while undergoing medical treatment, and returned to his tour in 2002. In 2003, from Spain, he collaborated with Mexican singer Julio Preciado for a duet in the song "Si nos dejan" which was included in his album Que me siga la tambora .
