GMC Acadia is a medium size crossover SUV (full size in 2007-2016) from GMC. The first generation GMC Acadia shares GM Lambda platform with Chevrolet Traverse, and Buick Enclave. Acadia went on sale in 2006 as a 2007 model in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Acadia replaces three of 7 or 8-seat vehicles on the Pontiac-Buick-GMC dealer network, GMC Safari medium-size van, GMC Envoy, and Pontiac Montana SV6 minivans for the domestic market. In 2009, Lambda vehicles have replaced Buick Rainier, Buick Rendezvous, and Buick Terraza, and after that became GMC Envoy and Chevrolet Trailblazer. The Denali version of Acadia debuted in 2010 as a 2011 model. By 2016, Acadia's second generation is being repositioned as a medium-sized crossover utility vehicle (as a 2017 model) to compete in the growing medium-sized CUV market against the likes of Ford Edge and Dodge Journey.

Acadia has six different airbags in the vehicle; two two-level front airbags for the driver and front passenger, two side air bags mounted on the side of the chairs in the first row and two sides of the curtain head affecting the airbag that covers the three rows of seats. Similar to Volvo XC90, Acadia will have a board detection system that will deploy a variety of airbags if rollovers are detected.
In addition, Acadia comes standard with the OnStar system.

Second Second generation (2017-present)
The second generation Acadia made its official debut at the North American International Auto Show on January 12, 2016. The redesigned acadia goes on sale in May 2016 as a 2017 model. The second generation Acadia is built in Spring Hill, Tennessee.
Second-generation Acadia is reduced from 200.8 inches to 193.6 inches in length and from 78.9 inches to 75.4 inches wide (losing 700 pounds in the process), because GM repositioned the vehicle to medium-size status while remaining on top of the Terrain in size (Terrain itself will release its intermediate status after being re-positioned as a smaller second-generation compact crossover with the 2018 model), as GM has announced that the next generation of Traverse and Enclave will be the only full-size crossover SUV built at GM. segment. With a reduction from full size to medium size, the Acadia MSRP is reduced to $ 29,995 (US). GMC Acadia now has configurations of 5, 6, and 7 passengers arranged each like two front seats and one back seat; two bucket seats in front, two buckets in the second row, and two chairs in the back row; or two front bucket seats, a second row bench seat, and two rear seats in the third row.
The second generation Acadia has seven seats, not eight, a choice of 2.5L or 3.6L engines, a new advanced twin-clutch AWD system (available only on All-Terrain models) by GKN Driveline designed for off-road environments (joining FWD and AWD drivetrains available on all other models), updated fascia and redesigned lighting. Acadia is built on the same platform as the Cadillac XT5 and will join Buick Envision built in China and has not been named Chevrolet equivalent (built on the C1XX platform) when GM introduced its ranks for the midsize CUV for 2018 and beyond.
With decreasing size, fuel economy with 3.6L increased to 18 cities, 25 hwy (AWD and FWD) from 17 cities 24 hwy (FWD). Acadia 2017 will offer a newly launched AppShop feature.
The level of pruning for second generation Acadia is carried over from previous generations; SL , SLE-1 , SLE-2 , SLT-1 , SLT-2 , as well as the trim level Denali , although The All-Terrain Package is available at the Acella SLE and SLT trim levels which will be more rough in appearance. Second-generation Acadia is also available with Third Row Seat Delete options at SLE and SLT trim levels as part of the All-Terrain Package.
The second generation Acadia introduced a feature to remind drivers to check the backseat for children to help prevent heat stings in children who are accidentally left in the vehicle.
Holden Acadia
Acadia will be sold in Australia and New Zealand as a documented vehicle of Holden and will retain the Acadia name. Holden Acadia will also be built in Tennessee with RHD specifications and marketed as a full-size CUV when it goes on sale in 2018. Australia will be the only market in the world where the right-handed version of Acadia will be sold.
Acadia Limited
Starting with the 2017 model year, the first-generation Acadia was sold simultaneously with second-generation replacements, but was renamed Acadia Limited, as Chevrolet Cruze Limited, Chevrolet Malibu Limited, and Chevrolet Impala Limited were also sold with their replacements, at least for a single model year, as rental vehicles and fleets. However, production remained in Lansing, Michigan when second-generation Acadia moved to Spring Hill, Tennessee, the site of the old Saturn plant. With the second generation Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse making their debut in 2017 as a 2018 model, GMC ended production at Acadia Limited on March 31, 2017 to begin production at Traverse and Enclave. Acadia Limited carries a base price tag of $ 44,775 and continues to offer the same features of the 2016 model.
