History
Chester Rodney England was born in 1896 from a farm family living in Plain City, Utah. In 1920, Chester purchased his first Model T truck to provide farmland to market services to farmers in Weber County and the Cache Valley. Then, he started to carry milk for Weber Dairy.
During World War II, Britain will buy Mexican bananas that enter the US in El Paso, Texas, and then distribute them throughout Utah. After their military service, British sons helped bring bananas to Utah and returned to Texas with potatoes. As the operation increases, several trucks are added to the fleet. At the height of this era, packing Idaho potatoes became an important part of the business. The British family operates two packing warehouses and storage facilities to improve truck operations.
When Central American bananas became available, Mexican fruits could not compete in quality, so banana yields were replaced with products and the focus of operations was moved to California and Arizona. C.R. England then offers beach service to the beach 72 hours, new senders to the US. The first trip to the east coast was taken by a driver by the name of Robert Gould. Within a year C.R. England opens an office in the Philadelphia market.
In a short time, C.R. Britain opens a "real" terminal in Pennsauken, New Jersey. In 1978, C.R. Britain moved the east coast operations to Burlington, New Jersey. In 1982, with technological advances, C.R. The UK is able to handle the east coast operations of the Utah terminal. It now operates terminals in California, New Jersey, Indiana and Texas.
