cement mixer is a drink shot. This often consists of:
- 1 part of Bailey Irish Cream (another type of Irish irish cream can be replaced)
- 1 part lemon juice (lemon juice can be replaced)
The drink is traditionally digested by taking Bailey's injections, holding it in the mouth, then inhaling lemon juice and mixing both liquids either by turning it around the mouth or shaking its head. This drink can also be combined as a layered shot, as lime juice is less dense than most Irish Cream brands.
The sour lime juice causes Bailey's cream-based to thicken. The thick bailey does not taste sour, but it quickly gets viscosity and sticks to the drinker's teeth, reminiscent of cement. For a sweeter taste, two shot glasses, one lemonade and one from Bailey, can be used.
In episodes of The Supersizers Eat... The Eighties , presenters (Giles Coren and Sue Perkins) graphically show the effect of drinking a Cement Mixer cocktail.
